Clinical Pilates with Rachel Canavan

Clinical Pilates is a physiotherapy-led approach to Pilates, using movement to strengthen and support recovery in a way that is tailored to each individual.

Rachel Canavan is a dancer, artist, former gymnast and a qualified Physiotherapist, certified in APPI Clinical Pilates Level 3.

For the last 14 years, she has been working to support people in recovery from injury or illness, as well as high performing athletes and performers who seek to maintain their strength and flexibility while putting high demands on their bodies.

Rachel runs regular Clinical Pilates classes in the main studio at copperdot, in small groups.

Because Clinical Pilates is tailored to each individual person, class sizes are limited, and participants will need to have at least one 1:1 Physiotherapy session before joining a class. This is so that Rachel can assess your strength and any injury or condition you may be dealing with, and find the right programme to add you into.

On occasion, Rachel runs general entry Pilates classes, for people who are not in recovery or managing injury.

Clinical Pilates FAQs

  • Ongoing monthly class membership is paid monthly, and costs £48 per month. Some months are shorter, others are longer, some have a week off for holiday. These balance out across the year.

Some classes are offered on a term-by-term basis, and a set of 4 or 6 lessons. They cost £14 per lesson and are charged in advance.

  • Unfortunately not. This is because as a Clinical Pilates practitioner and Physiotherapist, I have a clinical responsibility to assess participants to ensure that they are being given appropriate movements and pilates instruction.

  • Get in touch using the contact form, and Rachel will reach out to you to discuss your needs and arrange a 1:1 physio assessment. She will then offer you a place in the right class for you.

  • Rachel will send you the information you need to book your Physio 1:1. The session cost is £80, and from this you will receive a tailored exercise plan.
